Do The Thing are a Brighton-based improvised musical group, made up of improvisers Simon Plotkin, Tim Meredith and musician Iain Scott. They create surreal musicals and show-stopping numbers on the spot and have been doing so in front of sold-out audiences at the Brighton Fringe since 2018.

They were due to perform at the Warren in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the whole Brighton Fringe was cancelled. Instead, they took their talents to Twitter, writing and recording a song in 2 hours every Saturday using a song title suggestion from their followers.

I made a series of layered paper puppets of the group and created two music videos of my favourite Do The Thing songs. In one way they were able to play together… as puppets!
