Buttons

Theatre - 2013

Joni is a puppeteer. Dana is not. Dana is a Jew. Joni is not. 'Buttons' is a show about their journey to Auschwitz and the stories they discovered on the way.”

Devised by Sort Of Theatre with music by Phil Maguire.

Using a mixture of live performance, spoken word, shadow puppetry and object manipulation Joni and Dana attempt to recount the story of their 'sort of' holiday, whilst exploring the themes of memory, family and war.

‘Sort Of Theatre … shows undoubted promise. Their work is interesting, lively, honest and moving….The show is engaging, well structured and beautifully performed while Phil Maguire’s sound scape skillfully enhances and supports the action. Buttons is a piece that is as elegant as it deceptively simple.”
